As summer winds down, now is the perfect time to clear out clutter, tackle built-up grease and dust, and get your kitchen looking its best before fall cooking and holiday gatherings begin.
Dust light fixtures, ceiling corners, and the tops of cabinets, then wipe down cabinet doors, handles, the backsplash, and other often-overlooked surfaces. Give your major appliances extra attention. Clean the inside of your refrigerator, toss expired foods, wipe down the oven and stovetop, and freshen the microwave. For the dishwasher, clean the filter and run a cleaning cycle to remove buildup. Fall is also a good time to clean your range hood filter and remove grease that accumulated over the summer.
Don’t forget the pantry. Clear out expired staples, spices, and baking ingredients, then wipe down shelves before restocking with your fall favorites. A streamlined pantry makes it easier to find what you need during the busy cooking season. Finish by clearing your countertops and wiping down small appliances, then give the sink and backsplash a thorough scrub. Vacuum up crumbs and debris before mopping the floors for a clean, polished finish.
With a little attention now, your kitchen will be fresh, organized, and ready for whatever fall has in store.
